Therapy for Life Transitions
Cary, NC
Many of the women I work with are used to being the strong ones managing careers, relationships, and responsibilities, until a life transition makes it harder to keep pushing through on their own. Even when a change is expected or chosen, it can quietly shake your sense of identity, confidence, or direction. I offer life transitions therapy for women in Cary, NC who are navigating a new chapter and want a place to sort through what they’re feeling, make sense of what’s changing, and find steadiness again.
Helping you navigate your new normal with support and clarity
Transitions marked by celebration
High school graduation, retirement, starting your own business, or going back to a career after years of staying home are the milestones society welcomes. You planned for years what it would be like to be empty nesters, repeating the mantra, “When the kids are in school I will follow my dream.” But while society celebrates these events with parties and toasts, you’re not given a guidebook on what this means for your life.
Navigating these changes will bring about some feelings you would expect: excitement, anticipation, and gratitude, but also some that are talked about far less: fear, imposter syndrome, loneliness, or quietly questioning if this is really what you want.
Transitions that aren’t welcomed
There are other transitions, those forced on us by life or others: divorce, loss of job, loss of a loved one or relationship, disability, illness, or relocation. These are transitions that can bring up feelings that are much harder to discuss over dinner with the girls. Anger, abandonment, grief, relief, or hopelessness are very real on top of the actual situation you have to face daily. Friends, family, and colleagues can be a place of support, but when you acknowledge the toll this is taking on you, it may not be enough. A professional therapist can make a big difference.
You Are Not Alone
For many women, life transitions also bring an increase in anxiety, overthinking, or trouble sleeping. Whether it is a change that you are welcoming or feel suffocated by, the feelings, thoughts, and emotions you have are normal. Change is hard for everyone, especially if you are the person who is typically there for everyone else it can feel so daunting to navigate how to care for yourself during this time. You must get the support you need, as well as the direction on how to navigate this season well. Not perfectly, but not barely surviving either. There is an in-between, and I would love the opportunity to find it with you.
