Frequently Asked Questions about Therapy with Me

What it is like to work with me…

Therapist near Raleigh, Apex, Cary, Morrisville

Who knew when you started googling to find a ‘therapist near me,’ that you would have so many options, and be left with SO many questions?

Having a good fit between therapist and client is one of the main predictors for successful therapy outcomes. That’s why it is so important that you feel heard from the start. I thought I’d share some questions that I often get from potential clients with the hope that it may help you decide if you would like to setup time to talk with me.

  • I offer Virtual sessions for clients in Michigan and North Carolina. I have an office located in Cary, NC and offer In-Person appointments for those who would prefer that.

  • Virtual: You will receive an email with a link for our Telehealth session 15 minutes before your appointment.

In-Person: My practice is located inside the Family Wellness Center at 1513 Walnut Street, Suite 215, Cary, NC. You can make yourself comfortable in the waiting room and I will come and get you at the time of your appointment.

During the session, we will talk about your reasons for seeking counseling and I will ask questions to learn more about you. You will have an opportunity to ask me any questions you have about the therapy process and talk about any concerns you may have. I want to make sure that I am a good fit for you.

  • An Initial Session is 60 minutes.

    Ongoing Sessions are 50 minutes.

  • I have found that meeting weekly improves clients’ progress toward their goals. For that reason, I offer clients a weekly standing appointment time. This allows for both schedule and therapy consistency.

Doing healing work at the level that will sustain long-term change takes time. It’s a commitment. Clients who invest in the time feel relief faster and with less relapse into old patterns.

If weekly doesn’t work for your schedule I do have a limited number of 2x month session times available. When we talk about starting therapy we can discuss what works best for you and the goals you desire.

As you make progress toward your goals you and I will reassess and reduce frequency to meet your needs. Most clients transition to every other week before ‘graduating’ from working with me.

  • There are a lot of factors that contribute to the length of counseling, so it is difficult to predict until we begin working together. Typically, I work with clients for 6-9 months to reach and maintain their optimal level of wellness.

  • While therapy sessions are dynamic spaces to process things, your life happens outside our sessions. For this reason, I work with clients to determine the ‘work’ they want to do in between sessions.

  • While I can’t guarantee specific outcomes, I do use measures throughout our work together so you won’t just ‘feel’ it is making a difference. We will also have data to look at to measure your therapy outcomes.

  • I ask for a 48-hour cancellation notice, but understand that is not always possible because “life happens.” I do have a very firm 24-hour cancellation policy, so if you need to cancel for any reason, make sure you give 24 hours’ notice to avoid paying the late cancellation fee. The fee is $150.

  • I see clients Monday through Thursday from 9-4. Sessions are in-person on Mondays and Telehealth Tues-Thur. I offer standing appointment times. During the phone consultation, we will discuss what session time(s) I have available.

  • I am in-network with NC Aetna, BCBS, and the NC SHP.

If you would like me to verify if you have OON benefits and would get reimbursement please fill out the CONSULTATION FORM on this page and I will email you.

  • Self Pay Sessions are $185 for an initial hour-long session and $165 for ongoing 50-minute sessions.

If you are using your insurance the cost will be the rate/co-pay set by your insurance provider. To find this out you can call the number on the back of your card and ask about the cost for session codes 90791 (initial session) and 90837 (ongoing sessions.

I accept credit card, HSA, and FSA payments.

  • Under the No Surprises Act, which went into effect on January 1st, 2022, healthcare providers are required to give clients who DO NOT use insurance an estimate of the expected charges for psychotherapy services.
